Saturday, December 31, 2011 17:43 On Saturday December 31, 2011 at 17:43 units from Myersville and Middletown were dispatched to assist Trooper 3 (MSP Helo.) with a lost hiker on the Blue Trail near the intersection of Hamburg Rd. and Fishing Creek Rd. Shortly after units started marking up Trooper 3 was diverted to a serious accident and was later replaced with Trooper 2 and Eagle 1. Personnel from Co.8 and ATV-7 started into the mountain to search for the lost hiker and his dog, around 19:20 Trooper 2 and a Frederick County Advanced Technical Rescue (ATR) team arrived and an ATR member was lowered down to the patient. The ATR member, hiker w/ dog, and ground personnel started to exit the mountain to safety. At 20:30 units exited the woods on Hamburg Rd. near Gambrill Park Rd., the patient was turned over to A-89 for evaluation and the other units cleared as they became available.

Saturday, December 17, 2011 Units were dispatched on the Rescue Box to Interstate 70 East bound; East of the rest area for the reported tour bus accident with entrapments.The Rescue Engine (as the Second Due Squad), Wagon and both Ambulances were due on the run, along with numerous other apparatus from surrounding Stations. Company 8 units along with Chief 8 arrived on the scene with a two vehicle accident involving a tour bus and passenger vehicle. After a quick survey, Command reported back with 1 confined to the passenger vehicle, and no other patients.Command then held Company 8 units, along with RE-74. After units cleared the call, both A-78 and 79 were re-dispatched to the scene to transport patients with minor injuries from the bus.

Tuesday, December 13, 2011 Just wanted to pass along a interesting picture. As you can see, this is what a green and white Engine looks like after the paint wears off. It's RED underneath! We all knew it. It was a great pumper, and we enjoyed doing your standby's for your banquet's when we staffed old Engine 12 and the "Pete".
Tuesday, December 13, 2011 With the assistance of DFRS (Department of Fire and Rescue Services) through our tax district, A-79 will be getting replaced by a rechassis unit. Frederick County is currently trying new and improved ways of getting the best equipment for the best price. All of the current fleet of County Ambulances are E450 Fords with Horton Boxes.The County will be testing the rechassis method, and Middletown has been choosen as one of the Stations that will be getting a new unit. The Horton box will be removed from the current chassis, rehabbed and remounted onto a new 2012 International TerraStar chassis. A-79 is a 2002 and A-78 is a 2004. More information to come as available.

Sunday, December 11, 2011 Sorry for the late notice!On Sunday December 11, 2011 at 03:49 Carter Thomas Riley, all 7lb. 7oz., 20 3/4" little baby boy was brought into this world! Robbie Riley (father) and Heather Perry (momma) are doing fine at home now and little Carter is growing and growing everyday! God bless all three of them and may their time at home together with the new bundle of joy be unforgettable!
Tuesday, December 6, 2011 16:33 hour On Tuesday afternoon, units were alerted to the vehicle accident at the intersection of Old National Pike (Rt. 40A) and South Clifton Road in 12's first due. FD 300, who was in the area quickly advised ECC that the accident was not at the dispatched intersection, and found the accident west of the intersection of Edgemont, which placed that into another Box area. Uints arrived on the scene with 1 entrapment, and several others injured. Old National Pike Command requested 3 additional Ambulances. Rescue Engine 74 was added after the Box area change, and arrived soon after Rescue Engine 11 to assist with a door removal. Units arriving on the scene also checked out another accident just west of the incident scene.Units on the scene - A-129, E-122 (understaffed), A-79, RE-74, A-18, A-19, RE-11, Chief 1-1, Medic 31, and FD 300.
Tuesday, December 6, 2011 Every one ready for a good time this New Year? The Middletown AMVETS Post #9 has teamed up with the Middletown Volunteers to put on a great New Year's Eve dance. Sounds like a great way to start the New Year by helping two great civic organizations. The dance will be from Dec. 31st at 9pm till Jan. 1st at 1am at the AMVETS activities hall. Tickets are $20 a person or $35 a couple. There will be a cash bar and light refreshments available. We also have a variety music DJ that will be serving us. Wednesday, November 30, 2011 The "Kayla Cares If Your Cold blanket drive" is back. This year we are joined by The Juniors Volunteer Fire Company #2, Emmitsburg Volunteer Ambulance Company #26, and the Brunswick NAPA. Last year they raised 65 blankets that went to help locals in need. This year the challenge has been given to collect 120 blankets to be given to locals in need this winter. The deadline is Janurary 7th, and you can drop of your new or slightly used donations at any of the above locations. Also check out their face book and Blogspot.
