Thursday, February 4, 2010 - A few day's ago, a young gentleman named Josh Harris from French Burg Kentucky signed our guest-book, and mentioned a 1981 Hahn that he believed that Middletown had owned.
After replying back to Josh, his Dad Eddie Harris e-mailed us back with information and pictures of our old Hahn. Old Engine 73 is now 29 years old, and still running as a first out Wagon with the Menifee County Volunteer Fire Department. They had purchased the Engine from the Wynn Fire Equipment out of Corbin, Kentucky in the spring of 1998. Deputy Chief Harris wrote that they had minor work to do to the Engine, and it has continued to be the work horse for their Department.
The Hahn was purchased by Middletown in 1981, and ran first out on fires until 1990. The 1990 Grumman Firecat (Past RE-74) took all the first due fires then, and the Hahn ran first out on all mutual aide fires until 1996 when the Company purchased the Pierce Dash (Current E-72).
There is a lot of History with the Hahn in Middletown, and most members didn't want to see it leave. Thanks to the members of the Menifee County Volunteer Fire Department, Josh and Eddie Harris for contacting us.
Attached are pictures of E-73 at it's current home.
